Recreation Programming
Residents at Alden of Old Town East benefit from frequent community outings – including shopping, dining, sporting events, concerts and participating in Alden-sponsored programs such as a regional Special Olympics for individuals with physical disabilities.
Programming is very resident-centered and is conducted based on input and feedback from the community. Outings are planned based on residents’ skills, interests and abilities.
Activities offer many benefits:
- Improved cognitive, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Increased physical skills – fine gross motor skills, coordination and range of motion
- Enhanced emotional well-being, self-confidence, socialization and self-esteem
- A decrease in the display of maladaptive behaviors
